Abstract
A 60-year-old woman presented with severe back pain and pain in both buttocks, which had persisted for several years, and progressive kyphosis, which had developed 1 year prior to presentation. She had undergone several spinal surgeries in the past 13 years. She had a rigid and sharp angular kyphosis at T12. She underwent posterior and anterior-posterior deformity correction. During the first stage, posterior release and decompression at T12 and pedicle screw placement from T7 to S1 were performed. One week later, corpectomy at T12, anterior lumbar interbody fusion at L1-2, and completion of posterior fusion were performed. The patient¡¯s symptoms and spinal balance improved after the surgery. We concluded that posterior and anterior-posterior staged deformity correction is very effective for the correction of rigid post-traumatic kyphosis.
